Introducing, the latest and greatest addition to our MORPHOLOGIE line: PoowelryTM Fossilized shark poop jewelry!
This handmade sterling silver pendant features a locally collected coprolite (fossilized shark poop) that's been cut and polished into a cabochon. The round stone is set with a serrated bezel and surrounded by a beaded wire. The top is decorated by three hand cut and fabricated sterling silver flowers.
The split teardrop bail opening is nice and wide and will accommodate a larger chain if desired. (Chain not included).
The pendant measures 36 mm (1.5 inches) from the top of the bail by 22.8 mm (.89 inch) wide by 6.5 mm (.25 inch) thick/tall.
The cab colors feature a dark reddish brown color with black and some light tan inclusions -- basically what amounted to this shark's very last meal. This one is patterned really nicely. It takes very special conditions for organic material such as this to fossilize into solid rock.
Most shark coprolites found in this area are plain brown or black on the outside. It's only when you cut into the stone, that the beautiful colors and patterns are revealed. It's millions of years old. And yes, turns out you can polish a turd after all.
